Butterflies are amazing insects. Such small bodies and they can travel thousands of miles. I tried to do my part by collecting Monarch caterpillars to ensure that they made it into becoming butterflies. I gathered around 24 caterpillars and released 20.
The bunch that I had were at the end of the summer and I found out that those little guys are the ones who migrate to Mexico to hibernate for 6 months and return in the spring to lay their eggs. They are the longest living generation of Monarch butterflies.
I cannot wait to do this again next year because it was an exciting journey to document.
