Being my first spring in D.C. I decided to venture out and check out the cherry blossoms. I also had recently gotten a new wide angle lens for the camera so this was the perfect opportunity to test it out. These particular blossoms are from the Weeping Cherry Tree at the Smithsonian Castle in Washington D.C.

I woke up this morning to a wonderland of snow, it was quite great actually! I eagerly anticipated the blizzard that the east coast was expecting and the wait was well worth it! I had to work today and unfortunately had to have my dad drive me in because my adorable little car couldn’t make it up the hill. On our way home we had the camera and decided to take our time and see what pictures I could get.
This was taken along the creek and just converted to a B&W, I adjusted the contrast slightly. I was hoping to channel my inner Ansel Adams with this shot. His photos are amazing and I could only hope to be half as good as he is.

I actually got up earlier enough one summer morning to catch the sunrise coming through the trees and captured this amazing shot. I think my favorite part about it is how the light filters through the branches and leaves. I played with the contrast a little bit in photoshop elements 7 (loving just playing around with it and discovering stuff!).
